Sorachi & Ace

Brewery de Molen has developed a new beer for their core-range: Fruit & Kruid (Fruit & Herbs), a Blonde Ale with a blow of Sorachi Ace, supplied by Hollands Hophuis.

Brewery de Molen is known for their challenging beers with surprising flavours. In addition to that they were looking for a beer that a larger audience can appreciate, but of course with the distinctive, tasteful twist that characterises de Molen's beers.

Jan Willem and Carel toast with Fruit & Kruid

With a blow of Sorachi Ace
Master brewer Jan Willem den Hartog developed Fruit & Kruid: " Basically, we wanted to brew a fairly typical Belgian Blonde. A tasteful yet pleasantly drinkable beer that is well balanced. We also wanted to add an extra element of flavour, typical for our brewery. Something that surprises without being intimidating. Together with Hollands Hophuis, we came up with Sorachi Ace as a dry hop."

Japanese hops from European soil

Sorachi Ace is one of the few varieties of hops that originate from Japan. It has a very distinctive aroma that is difficult to describe. It has something herbal, like dill, lemongrass and perhaps a little coriander, with a distinct fruity note resembling citrus and blackcurrant, plus a hint of tobacco or wood. Yet this description does not quite cover it, it's like... Sorachi Ace!

Fruit & Kruid (Fruit & Herbs)
Our Sorachi Ace comes of course from European soil, from our farms in Germany and Austria, where this variety performs very well.

The beer is very good and we are proud that our Sorachi Ace gives exactly that mindblowing feeling that beers from Brewery de Molen are known for. Fruit & Kruid has those fine characteristics as you would expect from a Blonde, with an extra element that is best described as... Sorachi Ace!

Fruit & Kruid will be available in the upcoming weeks at the better bars, supermarkets, beer shops and through the webshop of Brewery de Molen (Dutch only).
